Motor boats are complex terrain for the charterer. The boats are expensive to buy and costly to maintain and care for. Consequently, the charter price is higher. But only companies who maintain a high standard of support, for example those who hold a well-equipped parts warehouse, are able guarantee a worry-free holiday with the boat.

Cruisers are a question of lifestyle. A comfortable cruiser is, in general, heavier and more spacious than a sailboat, and of course slower (8-10 knots, depending on size). Thus, cruisers require less fuel than a sail- or motor-sailboat.

Sailboats reach a speed of 35 knots or more – however, one pays for this higher speed through a much higher fuel usage, which additional burdens the holiday funds.

Motor sail boats are in many ways a compromise between these two boat types.

Choosing the right boat is thus dependent on a number of parameters: your personal preference, the sailing region, the route you plan on taking, and the cost.
